Chesmar to honor GHBA Benefit homes donors at May 13 luncheon
On May 13, Chesmar Homes and the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), will be honoring the dozens of vendors, suppliers and trades who donated their materials and services to the construction of the Chesmar Benefit home that sold in Lago Mar.
Land Tejas donated the homesite, so it is fitting that the luncheon takes place in the new Lago Mar Community Clubhouse. The guests of honor will receive recognition while observing COVID-19 protocols. The guests are the companies that made this charity home possible. Their donations allowed Chesmar to build its Hillcrest plan at a low cost, but with upgrades and amenities not often found in homes with similar pricing. The home sold, and proceeds will be given back to the community through two charities — HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home.
The guests will enjoy a catered barbecue donated by Allpoints Surveying Company and hear from the builder/ developer team representatives as well as from the charities that they benefit. This is Chesmar’s seventh Benefit home and Land Tejas’s 18th lot donation. Since the charity fundraiser began 41 years ago, more than $12 million has been raised.
“The incredible team of Chesmar and Land Tejas has spearheaded this valuable charity effort,” said Patrick Mayhan, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project. “These two organizations are leaders in the philanthropic arena in Houston, giving back to the community by doing what they do best, building homes and creating desirable neighborhoods where families can thrive. We are excited to honor everyone involved in this effort.”
The vendor/supplier team includes Builders Post Tension, Crossville, DataSmart, Boan-Nu Tone, Houston Window Fashions, Templar Electric, Houston Hurricane, The Ark Cast Stone, Austin Windstorm Construction, Stewart Door Co., Perfection Wholesale, GE Appliances, Master Brick, Action Landscape, Sprint Sand & Clay, Tony’s Insulation, Seybro Door & Weatherstrip, BMC Lumber & Millwork, All Points Surveying, Surface Systems of Texas, Bac Trac Plumbing, Rock Materials, Simpson Strong-Tie, A-Tak Pest Control, Flooring Services, GAF, Southeast Tile and TopBuild Home Services.
“Our vendors and suppliers are one of the main reasons we can participate in this valuable fundraiser for the community,” said Scott Merovitch, Chesmar city president. “Their commitment to giving back to the community and to Chesmar reflects their huge hearts and uncompromising professionalism. We are looking forward to the appreciation luncheon where we can officially say thank you.”
