Realtor uses experience to guide clients to best opportunities
Veteran Realtor Velvet Harris with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene — Cypress, has been a top producing agent for 17 years.
Harris, who sells homes all over Houston, has her office in the northwest area and has resided in Champions for over 15 years. She sells in areas such as The Woodlands, Magnolia, toward Katy, Spring, Pasadena, and recently in Galveston and Baytown.
Harris’ knowledge and experience help her clients achieve their goals.
“Our Houston market is rocking right now, and there is a lot happening,” she said. “Having a good, experienced Realtor will put a buyer or seller in a better position to make sure they are getting the best deal for themselves. Harris, a Little Rock, Arkansas native, moved to Houston nearly 30 years ago while in college. After college, Harris went into sales, both large and small.
Her goal was to be close to home and with her son.
“Real estate afforded me that type position. I could take him with me to show a house if necessary. Now he works with me and runs my business,” she said.
Her former sales experience ranged from heavy road construction equipment to small milk cartons and road signs, to name a few. Harris learned from her experiences.
“Those jobs taught me how to be flexible, ready on the go, quickly adapt, negotiating skills, and how to listen to others’ needs and wants,” said Harris.

Harris said her genuine personality and ethical approach to business are key personal traits when working with clients.
“I try to treat my clients, and anyone, like I would want to be treated with respect and honesty at all times,” she said. “Folks are spending their hardearned money, and they need to know that I am giving them top service to get them what they want and need in their transaction.
Also, my experience working many different transactions helps when there is so much happening in real estate these days.”
