Heaven gained a Saint on August 12, 2021. Sarah Mae Coleman Gibbs transition­ed from this life to be with the Lord at the age of 90.

Sarah Mae Gibbs was born May 26, 1931 in Shepherd, Texas to Wallace and Rebecca Coleman. She accepted and professed her love of Jesus Christ at an early age and was a dutiful servant.

After attending her alma mater Jack Yates Senior High School, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematic­s, Master of Art Degree in Secondary Education, and Master of Science Degree in Mathematic­s, from Texas Southern University.

Sarah was known for her love of education and her work in the community. She dedicated her life to helping mold young minds and facilitati­ng learning opportunit­ies in all phases of life. She worked in the Detroit, Evanston, and Houston ISD school systems. Sarah spent her life being a counselor, listener,

motivator, leader, organizer, champion, protector, and advocate for all causes near and dear to her heart.

After 40 years in education, Sarah retired and founded Gibbs Travel Agency where she focused on exposing students to historical black colleges and universiti­es throughout the United States.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, sister, and son.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Riverside United Methodist Church.
