Betts, Dodgers outlast Padres
LOS ANGELES — Mookie Betts hit a tie-breaking, threerun homer with two outs in the fifth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers held off the San Diego Padres 5-4 on Saturday night.
The Dodgers remained 2½ games behind NL Westleading San Francisco.
Betts drove in four of the Dodgers’ five runs. He had a sacrifice fly in the third that made it 2-0.
Fernando Tatis Jr. slugged a two-run shot, his 38th, on the first pitch from Walker Buehler that tied the game in the fourth. Buehler (14-3) allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings.

RED SOX 9, WHITE SOX 8 (10): Travis Shaw hit a tie-breaking single in the 10th inning after belting a threerun homer in the third, as Boston edged host Chicago.
GIANTS 15, CUBS 4: Tommy La Stella and Brandon Belt hit three-run homers and San Francisco pounded Chicago at Wrigley Field for their sixth straight victory.
RAYS 7, TIGERS 2: Joey Wendle tripled and homered, 30-year-old Dietrich Enns won for the first time in the major leagues and Tampa Bay won at Detroit.
CARDINALS 6, REDS 4: Nolan Arenado hit his 30th home run and drove in three runs and Paul DeJong also homered as St. Louis won at home.
RANGERS 8, ATHLETICS 6: Jonah Heim hit a tworun home run with two outs in the eighth inning to cap a five-run rally that lifted visiting Texas to a win over Oakland.
MARLINS 6, BRAVES 4: Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Sanchez hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning against Richard Rodriguez, lifting Miami to a victory at Atlanta.
BLUE JAYS SWEEP ORIOLES: George Springer hit a two-out, two-run homer in the seventh to lift Toronto past Baltimore 11-10 in the first game and Bo Bichette and Alejandro Kirk hit two-run homers in an 11-run seventh as the Blue Jays won 11-2 in the nightcap for a sweep.
DIAMONDBACKS 7, MARINERS 3: Daulton Varsho homered and drove in four runs and Arizona won at Seattle to snap a six-game losing streak.
TWINS 9, ROYALS 2: Jorge Polanco hit two of Minnesota’s five homers and the host Twins beat Kansas City.
PIRATES 10, NATIONALS 7: Bryan Reynolds hit his 23rd home run of the season as Pittsburgh won at home.
