ROBERT (BOB) JOSEPH COCHRAN

Robert (Bob) Joseph Cochran of McKinney, TX went to his Eternal Home on August 21, 2021 at his home in Buena Vista, CO. He was born to James Lee and Hazel Cochran on December 29, 1932 in Ponca City, OK. While he was in high school, his family moved to Lake Charles, LA where he met his life companion and wife of 67 years, Mildred. Following high school, he attended LSU, graduating with a degree in Petroleum Engineerin­g, a passion he acquired at an early age. He received the honorary induction to Tau Beta Pi. Bob was commission­ed as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1955.

Bob began his accomplish­ed career with Conoco in 1956. As a reservoir engineer, he evaluated many of the company’s largest oilfields. After 25 years with Conoco, he accepted a position with Citicorp, analyzing oil reserves for Citicorp’s largest borrowers. Bob was an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Bob was a man who sought wisdom. His favorite read was the book of Proverbs. He was a lifelong learner and pursued many interests with research and great discipline. In Bob’s early years he was a beekeeper, restored Model As, ran the Dallas White Rock Marathon, and later enjoyed AT-Ving, fishing, hiking, and family visits to their home in Colorado. Bob was a talented woodworker and also enjoyed drawing and sketching. He generously volunteere­d at his church and in children’s programs such as Kid’s Hope USA. Bob’s quiet strength, faith in God, and profound love for his wife and family are a testament to his character and integrity.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents James Lee and Hazel Cochran; sister, Donna Steele and two brothers, James Jay and Jack Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Cochran; sister, Lavona Rudolph; daughter, Peggy Roberts; son, Bob Cochran (Julie); and son, Bill Cochran (Jenny). He is also survived by eight grandchild­ren: Angela Franz (Aaron), Ron Slockett (Jessica),

Amy Jones (Jason), Shelly Mannion (Dylan), Emily Cochran, Cameron Cochran, Ryan Cochran, and Benjamin Cochran and seven greatgrand­children.

A memorial service will be held at Stonebriar Community Church, Frisco, TX on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 am. The service will also be available to stream: https://youtu.be/nUAue3EDjU
