ELLEN KRONEY BURFORD

1943-2021

Ellen Kroney Burford, age 78, of Dallas, Texas passed away on September 11, 2021. Ellen was born in Dallas, Texas on January 5, 1943. Ellen was a loving mother, wife and grandmother to her family. She was the perfect friend, always kind and caring to everyone. Ellen was affectionately known as “Kre” by her grandchildren as well as other family members. Ellen loved her family and she sent a text to them the night before she passed which read “Goodnight all!! I love you very much!! I could not ask for a more perfect family!” Her husband “B” was the great love of her life, having first fallen in love with him in high school. Ellen attended Highland Park High School and University of Texas and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was a long time member of the Dallas Woman’s Club, a member of the Dallas Garden Club of the Dallas Woman’s Club and Dallas Country Club. Ellen and Sam also loved spending holidays and time with family at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ellen is survived by her loving husband Sam; her children John Michael McCrory (Christi) of Houston, TX, Kelley Johnson (Rod) of Keller, TX; brother Robert Kroney (Susan) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Ellie and Gracie Johnson; nephew Harper Kroney; stepchildren Melissa Bernard (Brett), Ashley Smith (Stacy), and Blaire Sherer (Scott) and their children Sarah Bernard Waggoner (Luke), Blake Bernard, Luke Bernard, Charlotte Bernard, Sammy Smith, Morgan Smith, Ben Smith, Billy Smith, Henry Sherer, David Sherer and Janet Sherer. A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at the Highland Park United Methodist Church in the Sanctuary on Friday, September 17 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas or the Genesis Woman’s Shelter & Support of Dallas.
