Dr. Robert Mateer (Jack) Harrison, Jr. DDS of Brenham, Texas died September 15, 2021 at age 81 at his home in Brenham, Texas. Jack was baptized Presbyteri­an as an infant in Yorktown, Texas. He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1958 having lettered in Band and Track. He graduated from Victoria College in 1960 with an Associate Degree where he also played in the college band. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-med where he was a member of The Longhorn Marching Band (saxophone) and Theta Chi fraternity. He then graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston, Texas in 1967 where he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. During Jack’s earlier years he attended Camp Vallecito for Boys near Bayfield, Colorado, during the summers both as a camper and later as counselor where his dad was camp director for 10 years. During these summer months, Jack improved his marksmansh­ip and earned NRA’s highest award for Distinguis­hed Marksmansh­ip, Junior Division. Jack volunteere­d his time with Depelechin Children’s Center providing dental services to children in their care. He finally retired in 2013 after working 46 years.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfathe­r who loved his family dearly. He was very involved with his children and never missed a game or event. Jack married the love of his life, Tillie, on August 12, 1995 and they were inseparabl­e over the 26 years they were married. Jack was a laid back and easygoing man who saw the best in everyone. He loved being with his grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren who all called him “Papa Jack”.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, spending time with family, and all things rabbit. Donations may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Sandy Hill. Services in the care of Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham TX 979836-4564
