DAVID EDWARD HAUBEGGER

1940-2021

-

David Edward Haubegger passed away at home in Sugar Land, Texas on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Born on May 24, 1940 in Hiawatha, Kansas to Elmer and Margaret Haubegger, he moved to Houston, Texas as a boy. He graduated from St. John’s School in 1958 and then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas. It was in Dallas where he met the love of his life, Ann Haubegger, to whom he was married for 49 years. He pursued a long career at Houston Lighting and Power that spanned over three decades.

David had a lifelong love of the outdoors, and he and Ann enjoyed decades of hunting, fishing and hiking with friends and family. He lived to laugh and make others smile, and was known for his easy humor and charm. He loved to travel and was fortunate to have seen much of the world. (Of course, he would point out that much of the world was fortunate to have seen him).

He is survived by his daughter, Christy Ann Haubegger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Heffington Haubegger, and his son David E. Haubegger, Jr.

David was widely loved, and is deeply missed, but will always be cherished by those who knew him. On Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, a memorial service will be held at St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd., Houston, Texas 77019. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring David’s life may be made to Epiphany Community Health Outreach Services (www.echos-houston.org), an organization where he spent time as an active volunteer.
