RICHARD HAROLD “RICK” JONES, JR.

1948-2021

Richard Harold “Rick” Jones, Jr., 73, of Houston, Texas, antiques dealer and interior designer, died unexpectedly at home on September 1, 2021.

Born at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas on August 1, 1948 to Richard H. and Betty Joe Justus Jones, he was the middle of three children and grew up in Houston, attending Lamar High

School (class of 1968) and subsequently the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Rick was a gentleman of extraordinary taste and style, specializing in American antiques which he traded through his own shops and through auctions and consignment over many years. His homes, both his own and those he he decorated for clients, were stunning and understated, filled with interesting and beautiful treasures which lucky guests could admire during his occasional dinner parties. He was a wonderful host.

After suffering a series of strokes at 63, Rick managed to carry on independently but with an opportunity to make new groups of friends through aquatic therapy and a new social group, the SPRY Diners, with whom he met regularly to play dominoes and socialize.

Predeceased by his beloved dog Pete, Rick is survived by his girl cat Hank and many friends who will miss him. Of special mention are his long-term friends Lucile and Brantly Harris and their extended family, who considered Rick an integral part of the family.
