HomeAid fundraiser inspires acts of kindness

-

HomeAid Houston, a 501(c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association announced that the theme for its 13th annual charity fundraiser is Acts of Kindness. HomeAid’s HALO luncheon has hosted nearly 3,000 guests since its inception. The luncheon will be held Nov. 5 as a virtual event. Due to the fact that many of Houston’s venues required that space be reserved early in 2021, HomeAid made the financially responsible decision to repeat last year’s format and move forward with a virtual event that will again embrace and deliver HomeAid’s message through its thoughtfully designed program.

The luncheon for HALO, HomeAid’s Amazing Ladies Organization, raises funds for future HomeAid construction projects. The event brings hundreds of accomplished women from the construction industry and other related industries together to hear the intimate side of homelessness that affects men, women, children, families and veterans.

“It is humbling to see the continuing participation of so many of HomeAid’s supporters who have stood by us year after year, and especially through the COVID pandemic that has impacted nonprofits worldwide,” said Toy Wood, HomeAid founder and underwriter. “Our supporters return every year bringing new HomeAid ambassadors who share our vision to serve those in crisis.”

HomeAid’s HALO Luncheon has raised over $500,000 million since Wood, then GHBA CEO, invited six women to a lunch that was held in the kitchen of one of HomeAid’s homeless care agencies in 2008.

“We are excited about our theme this year,” said Carole Brady, executive director of HomeAid. “Acts of Kindness are the building blocks behind every HomeAid project, partnership, and commitments we make to provide hope and help to our care providers.”
