Nicolas (Nick) Alonzo Jr, born December 9, 1939 passed away on April 20, 2022. Nick was born in Refugio, Texas to Nicolas Alonzo Sr. and Mary Louise Salazar. He graduated from Santa Fe Springs H.S and entered the United States Air Force in 1959. While in the Air Force he served in the Vietnam war and retired honorably in 1979 as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer until his retirement in 2005. After his retirement he enjoyed many travels with his wife, Jani Villarreal Alonzo, and spending time with his grandchild­ren, always the family man he was the life of the party at all family events. He was also an active member of the Tejano Veterans Associatio­n which he held very dear to his heart.

Nick is predecease­d by his Father Nicolas Alonzo Sr., who died in the Battle of the Bulge and his mother Mary Louise Salazar, brother Eddie Alonzo and his sister Sylvia Salazar, grandchild­ren Andrea Nicole Parrish and grandson Mark Anthony Parrish.

Nick is survived by his wife of 50 years Jani Villarreal Alonzo, daughter Connie Parrish and son-in-law Raymond, son Christian, brother Richard Salazar and wife Mary, brother-in-law J. Martin Villarreal and his wife Vicki and cousin Tomas Fierova and wife Carmen. He is also survived by 5 grandchild­ren, 3 great grandchild­ren, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Chloe. As everyone who knew Nick, he would not want us to be sad but would want us to celebrate his great life, so when you read this, in his honor have a sip of tequila.
