John Hagaman Polk, father and husband, passed away on Sunday, the 1st of May 2022, with his family by his side. He was 79 years of age.

John was born the 30th September 1942, and grew up in Bay City, Texas. John loved the Bay City Black Cats and the friends he grew up with in Bay City, especially his life long friends. John and his wife loved working together in the practice of law and cherished their discussion­s about their work together. They were best friends and she never left his side. John valued honesty, hard work, and helping others achieve.

John obtained a Bachelor’s degree from North

Texas State University, a

Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law, and a Masters of Law in Taxation from Southern Methodist University. John was a Certified Public Accountant and Attorney certified by the Texas State Board of Legal Specializa­tion in Tax law, Estate and Probate Law, and Real Estate Law.

John started his first accounting firm in Houston in the 1970’s, and eventually started a legal practice in the 1980’s, where he practiced for 40 years.

John will be remembered by his enormous personalit­y and joy for life. He made every day count and brought the best attitude you could find. John would sing at the drop of a hat and could make you feel like a million dollars. John lived life to the fullest. His friends referred to him as Honest-John, Elvis, and Johnny Polk. You will never be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Hagaman Vandiver, father, Giles Rivers Polk, and brother Lee Rivers Polk, and survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kay

Polk of Houston, his children Dawn C. Myers, of Burleson, Texas, and Bryan H. Polk, of Houston, and son in law Kenny Myers, and grandson Bailey J. Bridges, brother and his wife, Larry and Donna Vandiver.

A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 14th of May 2022, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediatel­y following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
