Dodgers sweep a pair at Chicago

CHICAGO — Clayton Kershaw dominated over seven innings in the opener, Mookie Betts drove in five runs in the nightcap, and the Los Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs 7-0 and 6-2 to sweep a split doublehead­er on Saturday.

The Dodgers continued to roll along with Kershaw and Betts coming through. Betts smacked a three-run double in the second inning of Game 2 against Keegan Thompson to cap a four-run rally, and he added a two-run homer in the ninth to make it 6-2.

The NL Central leaders drew nine walks on the way to their 17th win in 22 games.

Braves 3, Brewers 2: Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a fifthinnin­g homer for the game’s first run, Max Fried outpitched Corbin Burnes and host Atlanta held on to beat Milwaukee.

White Sox 3, Red Sox 1 (10): Jose Abreu hit a goahead double in the 10th, helping visiting Chicago post its fifth straight win.

Giants 13, Cardinals 7: Wilmer Flores hit a grand slam in the first inning and matched his career high with six RBIs as host San Francisco routed St. Louis Cardinals to end a five-game losing streak.

Rays 8, Mariners 2: Brandon Lowe hit two solo homers, Manuel Margot hit a grand slam and Tampa Baywon at Seattle.

Blue Jays split with Guardians: George Springer and Raimel Tapia each drove in three runs, powering Toronto to a 8-3 win at Cleveland in the first game of a doublehead­er. Owen Miller hit a two-run double as the Guardians took the second game 8-2.

Pirates salvage split with Reds: Tyler Stephenson hit a tie-breaking, bases-loaded double in the eighth inning as the Reds ended a nine-game losing streak with a 9-2 win in the opener. In the nightcap, Ke’Bryan Hayes hit a two-run homer as Pittsburgh won 8-5 for a split.

Marlins 8, Padres 0: Joe Dunand homered on the third pitch he saw as a big leaguer as the Miami won at San Diego to end a six-game losing streak.

Twins 1, Athletics 0: Jorge Polanco homered and four Minnesota pitchers blanked visiting Oakland to send the Athletics to their eighth straight loss.

Nationals 7, Angels 3: Josh Bell, Yadiel Hernandez and Nelson Cruz homered and Washington snapped a three-game losing streak with a win at Los Angeles.

Rockies 4, Diamondbac­ks 1: Yonathan Daza, Jose Iglesias and Connor Joe hit two-out, run-scoring singles in the ninth inning to help Colorado win at Arizona.
