Check out these five holiday rom-coms worth seeing
I’m a sucker for a good holiday rom-com, and there are so many good ones this season. Here are five movies not to miss:
Falling for Christmas (Netflix)
Who would have thought Lindsay Lohan’s first major film in a decade would be a holiday movie? The actress stars in this new Netflix movie about a young, newly engaged heiress who is diagnosed with amnesia after a skiing accident. She ends up at a small mountain inn, where she’s nursed back to health, and reality, by the inn’s owner and his daughter. She falls in love, too. This holiday movie has all the right stuff.
Sweet Navidad (Lifetime) A pastry chef dreams of opening her own Puerto Rican-inspired bakery, when a local hotel owner asks her to be the pastry chef at his establishment’s big holiday bash. They are complete opposites in approach to the holiday menu, but, of course, find love in the process.
Christmas with You (Netflix)
Freddie Prinze Jr., a ’90s teen heartthrob, also has a Christmas movie out. It’s about a super-famous pop star who must produce a Christmas hit song but has writer’s block. She gets inspired by a teen whose Christmas wish is to meet her, so she visits the small town where the girl lives. That’s where she meets Prinze, the teen’s widowed dad. And love sparks over songwriting.
Merry Liddle Christmas, Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding and Merry Liddle Christmas Baby (Lifetime)
Houston native and former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland stars in the threemovie series about a successful tech entrepreneur who tries to host the picture-perfect Christmas with her chaotic family, while falling in love with a neighbor, getting married and having a baby. Rowland is a holiday sweetheart who should keep the series going for a few more films.
The Great Holiday Bake War (OWN)
Another Houston native, LeToya Luckett, who was also an original member of Destiny’s Child, stars in this sweet holiday movie about a vegan dessert food-truck owner who competes on a baking reality show against a former flame. The movie debuted at 8 p.m. Saturday on OWN.
