- Kenneth Wayne Cory

Kenneth Wayne Cory, 89 of Bellaire, Texas passed away December 16, 2022, He is survived by his sons Mark, and his wife Marilyn, and Scott, and his wife Sherry, grandchildren Bryan (Alison), Daniel (Ana) and Hannah Warr (Alex), along with five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife of almost seventy years, Shirley.

Kenneth grew up on

Elam Road, just outside of Dallas. Kenneth married Shirley in late 1952, and after a stint in the navy, he embarked on a career in the oil and gas industry, and that career spanned parts of eight decades. Kenneth moved his family to Houston in 1962 and began his career as an independent landman and transitioned into an independent producer in 1983. Kenneth attacked his work like he did to every aspect of his life, with great passion. He loved teaching his sons how to play baseball, his grandchildren how to ski, and he also loved explaining to work companions the intricacies of the joint operating agreement.

Kenneth and Shirley also loved to travel, whether it was to marvel at the natural wonders of the National Parks or skiing in such exotic places as Austria and Chile or rafting down the Grand Canyon.

They also loved their ranch near Crocket on the banks of the Trinity River, where Ken was able to scatter Shirley’s ashes one week before he passed.

But they especially loved their family. Mondays meant the family, sometimes as many as 14, would gather at Ken and Shirley’s for a magnificant lunch.

Ken and Shirley were long members of Bethany Christian Church and members of the P A class.

A celebration of life will be held at Bethany, 3223 Westheimer, on January 6th at 3 pm. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Westview Boys Home-Show Calf Division.
