MICKIE WINBORN 02/14/1942 - 12/20/2022

-

Mickie Winborn fulfilled God’s mission for her life and finished her race. She went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, the 20th of December 20 2022, at 98 years young.

Mickie was born on Valentine’s Day 1924 in Los Angeles, California, to Shannon and Kelsey Baker. She grew up in Texas during The Great Depression and at the age of eight, her parents divorced. Mickie instinctively stepped up and solicited odd jobs and errands from neighbors, earning 10 cents per job to help her mother, and becoming a second mother to her little sister Johanna.

In 1946, after his return from service in WWII , she married Kenneth Winborn. They were married for 57 years when Kenneth went to heaven in 2003. Together they raised two sons, Trey and Greg. In the early 1960’s Kenneth founded American Plant Food (APF), a fertilizer company. Mickie was the backbone of APF in those early years, helping Kenneth with clerical work, but mainly ensuring the company’s success through prayer.

In 1965, Mickie was diagnosed with terminal metastatic cancer. After a miraculous healing, Mickie devoted her life to testifying, teaching, sharing, and preaching the good news of Jesus’ love and desire to see all people healed, set free, and reconciled to God. She wrote her first book about her diagnosis and healing journey called “Through a Glass Darkly: Truth Revealed, Cancer Healed.”

Mickie became an ordained minister and traveled the world holding miracle healing services and witnessing mighty manifestations of God’s healing power in Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Israel, Haiti, Korea, Canada, and throughout the United States. She even smuggled bibles in her overcoat into China. Mickie was a faithful intercessor and partnered with countless ministries like Peter Wagner Ministries, Women’s Aglow, Joyce Meyer, Believers World Outreach, Kenneth Copeland and Chuck Pierce Ministry. Her gifts and prayers helped build churches in Gamboa, Panama, Guatemala and in the US.

Mickie was a sought-out speaker for Women’s Aglow meetings, churches of all denominations, prisons, conferences, and retreats, and taught a monthly prayer bible study in her home and friends’ homes for nearly 30 years. Her humor, anointing, and love of Jesus ministered deeply to all who heard her teach. She helped establish The Women’s Home in Houston, which offered homeless and recently incarcerated women a place to go and get housing and vocational training for a second chance in life. She would make weekly trips to the farmers market and purchase fresh fruit and vegetables to deliver to the women.

Mickie obeyed the Lord’s direction to author three books, and went on to write “Breaking Casualty Covenants: Realizing The Weight of Your Words and Stepping Into the Supernatural: Moment of Decision.”

Mickie’s pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her sons, Trey and Greg; daughters-in-love, Amber and Karen; grandchildren, Kelly, Tracy, Brandon, Matt, Kyle, Nicholas, great-grandson Joshua; nephew, James Burnett; and niece, Saundra Wiggins. She personally led each family member to accept Jesus into their hearts as Lord and baptized many family and friends in the swimming pool of her lake home. Mickie also had many spiritual sons and daughters. Darleen

Goss was one of her spiritual daughters, who was her devoted assistant and primary caregiver.

Mickie internalized Lamentations 3:22 from the moment she heard in her spirit, “His compassions fail not” when she was dying of terminal cancer. She radiated compassion for others in everything she did. It was her heart’s desire to see the fulfilment of Habakkuk 2:14, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” And she faithfully and dutifully did her part, ministering to everyone she encountered. She would expect her obituary to do the same. If you would like to become a child of God simply pray this prayer, “Lord Jesus forgive me of my sins, come into my heart and be Lord of my life, and when I die take me to live with you for eternity.” Start reading the bible, and walk daily in forgiveness, love and obedience to God.
