Theater Factory fun, Broadway favorite

Point for point, 1954 Tony winner “The Pajama Game” remains one of the most entertaining, deftly crafted of all golden-age Broadway classics. George Abbott and Richard Bissell’s brisk, funny libretto benefits from its workingclass sympathies and unique setting — a Midwest pajama factory, where an impending strike throws a monkey wrench into the romance between the new superintendent and the head of the union’s grievance committee. Richard Adler and Jerry Ross’ rollicking score offers one gem after another. Houston gets its long-overdue revival of “Pajama Game,” courtesy of Bayou City Concert Musicals, which has a good track record with such classics as “Finian’s Rainbow” and “Pal Joey.” 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. FridaySaturday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday; Bayou City Concert Musicals, at Heinen Theatre, 3517 Austin; $25-$50; 713-791-9447.

Arsenic and Old Lace

Joseph Kesselring’s classic macabre comedy centers on the hapless nephew trying to decide what to do about his two “sweet little old lady” aunts when he discovers that the darlings have been poisoning elderly men to ease them out of their loneliness and have a total of 12 bodies (so far) buried in their cellar. When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays, through Oct. 6; Wednesday shows through Sept. 18 only; 2:30 p.m. Saturdays, beginning Sept. 14. Where: A.D. Players, 2710 W. Alabama. Tickets: $32-$41. Info: 713-526-2721.
