Life just keeps getting better for hard rockers

-

Since forming in 1997, the Canadian rockers Thousand Foot Krutch have become mainstays in hard-rock music. They released their second remix EP, “Metamorphosiz II The End Remixes Vol. 2,” as an exclusive to digital retailers on July 2. The EP features six songs from the independently released and No. 1-selling album, “The End Is Where We Begin.”

Lead single “War of Change” became the group’s 13th No. 1 song on Christian radio and has become the band’s first independent music video. The video was recently picked up by TVU’s “The Most Wanted,” JCTV and ClubCom Hard Rock, which airs in 500 health clubs in the U.S., England, Australia and Japan.

I sat down with lead singer Trevor McNevan to talk about the new music, his faith and becoming a father.

Q: Tell me about this new EP, “Metamorphosiz II The End Remixes Vol. 2.”

A: The remixes have been a blast. As a songwriter, it’s fun to work with people outside the band and see how they creatively envision what our songs should sound like to them. We got to work with some really great producers from North America and England as well. We decided to break away from our record label and be completely independent. We promised our fans that if our latest album made it into the top 20 on the Billboard charts, we would give away a couple of remixes as free downloads. Once we did the pair of remixes, it kind of snowballed from there. We did the whole record in two parts.

Q: Congratulations on becoming a dad.

A: Thanks! It’s been awesome! I think it’s something you can’t truly prepare for. He is close to 5 months now. It’s crazy but awesome at the same time.

Q: What was your relationship like with your dad?

A: If I could be half the man my dad is, I think I would be happy. He is an incredible man and has always been a rock in my life. He is very consistent and true to his word. He was a spiritual rock in my life as well, and I hope to be that for my family as well.

Q: So, you have had that spiritual influence from a very early age?

A: Yes, I actually got saved when I was about 10, at a country-music concert at our church. I really hated that kind of music, but he said some things that touched my heart and really opened my eyes to who God is. Ever since then, I have been on the journey, and it’s been incredible. The best moments in my life are when you can’t see the next step, but you know God is faithful and you go for it, and He gets all the glory.

Q: What happens next for the band?

A: We just wrapped up a busy summer playing tons of festivals, so now we have a short run of shows on our own, and then we will join the Winter Jam Tour. Winter Jam is like the biggest tour in the world, and it’s our first time on it, so we are pretty excited.
