Eagle’s Trace medical center provides convenience, familiarity
Pat Osborne, resident of Eagle’s Trace retirement community in west Houston, is a busy woman.
She serves on the Residents’ Advisory Council, helped form the resident-led Community Outreach Committee that coordinates volunteer projects and stays active with the teaching profession.
So when she feels under the weather, Osborne doesn’t have time for long drives across town to see a doctor. Instead, she visits the medical center that is on the campus of Eagle’s Trace.
“It’s such a convenience to be able to schedule a same-day appointment and then simply walk to the office downstairs,” Osborne said.
The full-service medical center at Eagle’s Trace is led by Brian Tremaine, M.D. With 15 years of experience, Tremaine completed his internal medicine residency and geriatric fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
He leads a team of experienced geriatricians and visiting specialists that include an audiologist, dentist, optician and podiatrist. Part of the Erickson Health Medical Group, the physicians utilize technology such as electronic medical records to keep residents healthy.
For residents, the Eagle’s Trace medical center provides sameday appointments (more than 900 in 2013) and more time with their physicians. Residents can have X-rays and lab work performed on-site.
It’s all part of an integrated health and wellness system for older adults. In addition to health care offerings, Eagle’s Trace residents interact with fitness experts, nutritionists, professional chefs and other medical professionals working to keep them healthy.
For those who need a higher level of care, Eagle’s Trace offers an on-site continuing care neighborhood with assisted living, short-term rehabilitation and longterm care.
But it’s the comfort of having a f amily doctor on-site that makes a difference for residents such as Osborne.
“We get to know our physicians and medical center staff beyond the doors of the office. We see them eating in our cafe and being a visible part of Eagle’s Trace at events,” Osborne said. “They become f amiliar with us and our unique needs.”
