Dorothy Manly Dickson 86, passed away at Methodist Hospital on April 21, 2015 after a valiant 15 year battle with breast cancer. Dorothy was born in Houston, Texas on February 20, 1929 to William Fredrick Manly and Jewell Cordelia (Reed) Manly. Dorothy attended Austin High School and graduated in 1947. She was an active member of the Scottish Brigade.

While working at Western National Gas, Dorothy met her beloved husband of 49 years, Roland Lawrence Dickson. Dorothy was a member of Westbury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She believed Jesus was her friend and blessed her with strength each and every day. She was a member of Women’s Missionary Society. Dorothy was also a member of Grief Support, which she looked forward going to twice a month for dinner to see her longtime friends. She was a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Texas Star Chapter and served as Chaplain.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and “Maw”. She loved her ranch in Burleson County known to all as the “Farm”, where she loved to spend time with her family. Dorothy was a loving, kind, generous person who loved her children, grandchild­ren, and great grandchild­ren with all her heart, and would do anything for them.

She is survived by her son Mark Dickson and wife Mary of Houston, Texas, daughter Rhonda Hoelscher and husband Carl of Brenham, Texas, grandsons Mark and wife Kris, Cody, Derek and wife Hanna, and Reed Dickson, grandsons Clinton, and Cole and wife Amanda Hoelscher. Great granddaugh­ter Brittany Dickson, great grandsons James and Samuel Dickson.
