Mets hike win streak to 11; Royals win after brawl

NEW YORK — Daniel Murphy drove in four runs, and the New York Mets matched a franchise record with their 11th straight victory Thursday, walking their way to a 6-3 win over the Atlanta Braves behind Bartolo Colon. The Mets were 10-0 on their first homestand after sweeping three NL East rivals.

ROYALS 3, WHITE SOX 2 : Eric Hosmer singled home the winning run in the 13th inning of a game that featured a brawl resulting in five ejections in the seventh. Royals starter Yordano Ventura and White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton appeared to exchange words after Ventura snagged Eaton’s grounder. Kansas City’s Ventura, Lorenzo Cain and Edinson Volquez along with Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija of Chicago were ejected after the ensuing melee.

ANGELS 2, ATHLETICS 0: Nick Tropeano pitched into the seventh inning in his Los Angeles debut, and Kole Calhoun’s two-run homer was the Angels’ only hit in a win over Oakland.

CARDINALS 4, NATIONALS 1: Michael Wacha got the best of Max Scherzer in a pitchers’ duel, Matt Adams singled in the tiebreakin­g run in the sixth inning, and St. Louis beat Washington for its fourth straight series win.

GIANTS 3, DODGERS 2: Justin Maxwell singled home the winning run with one out in the 10th inning as San Francisco completed a three-game sweep of Los Angeles.

BLUE JAYS 7, ORIOLES 6: Josh Donaldson hit a two-run homer, Drew Hutchison pitched eight strong innings, and Toronto completed a three-game sweep of Baltimore.

YANKEES 2, TIGERS 1: Brian McCann drove in Jacoby Ellsbury with the tiebreakin­g run in the eighth inning, and New York held on to win at Detroit.

BREWERS 4, REDS 2: Kyle Lohse threw seven effective innings to bounce back from three poor starts this season as host Milwaukee snapped an eight-game losing streak.

PIRATES 5, CUBS 4: Gregory Polanco got three hits, including a go-ahead single in the seventh inning, as host Pittsburgh rallied from a 4-1 deficit to beat Chicago.

RAYS 2, RED SOX 1: Rene Rivera had a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning as Tampa Bay beat Boston.

ROCKIES 2, PADRES 1: Corey Dickerson hit a go-ahead home run leading off the fifth, and Jordan Lyles pitched effectivel­y into the seventh, helping Colorado past San Diego.

MARLINS 9, PHILLIES 1: David Phelps tossed three-hit ball over seven innings, Martin Prado drove in four runs, and Adeiny Hechavarri­a had four hits as Miami beat Philadelph­ia.
