Braves’ Johnson slugs 2 HRs in support of Miller’s shutout

ATLANTA — Shelby Miller threw his third career shutout and Kelly Johnson homered twice as the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelph­ia Phillies 9-0 on Tuesday night. Johnson, who drove in four runs, also singled for his 1,000th hit.

YANKEES 6, BLUE JAYS 3: Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer, Michael Pineda matched his career high with eight shutout innings and New York won in Toronto.

CARDINALS 7, CUBS 4: Mark Reynolds doubled to snap a tie in the sixth inning and the Cardinals beat visiting Chicago for their eighth straight win.

REDS 7, PIRATES 1: Marlon Byrd homered and drove in four, Todd Frazier belted his NL-leading ninth home run and Cincinnati won in Pittsburgh.

RED SOX 2, RAYS 0: Mookie Betts homered to lead off the sixth inning and added another in the eighth to lead Boston past visiting Tampa Bay.

METS 3, ORIOLES 2: Bartolo Colon became the first pitcher in at least 100 years to beat the same opponent with seven teams by beating visiting Baltimore.

ATHLETICS 2, TWINS 1: Jesse Chavez struck out seven and allowed one unearned run as visiting Oakland snapped Minnesota’s five-game winning streak.

MARLINS 2, NATIONALS 1: Matt Latos went 6½ innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out five, and Miami won in Washington.

ROYALS 5, INDIANS 3: Eric Hosmer hit a three-run homer and Kansas City beat visiting Cleveland. Hosmer also had an RBI triple in the eighth inning.

WHITE SOX 5, TIGERS 2: Jeff Samardzija pitched seven effective innings and Chicago snapped a five-game losing streak with a victory over visiting Detroit.

DODGERS 8, BREWERS 2: Jack Greinke won his careerbest 10th consecutiv­e decision and Justin Turner hit a threerun homer to lead Los Angeles to a win in Milwaukee.

GIANTS 6, PADRES 0: Ryan Vogelson allowed three hits over seven shutout innings as San Francisco beat visiting San Diego.

ANGELS 5, MARINERS 4: Carlos Perez’s walk-off homer led Los Angeles to a win over visiting Seattle.
