JIMMY BUFFETT COMES TO TOWN

Jimmy Buffett will perform at 8 p.m. on May 28 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Tickets start at $46, and parking is still available in the Official Jimmy Buffett Tailgating Lot for $65 per car. The parking lot, located on the northeast corner of Six Pines Drive and Lake Robbins Drive, opens at noon and closes to incoming traffic at 4 p.m. There are specific guidelines for the tailgating event on the organizati­on’s website.

CHAMBER WILL HOST JOB FAIR

The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce’s Community Job Fair presented by the Kandor Group Inc. is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 28 at Sam Houston State University The Woodlands Center.

Last year, the event drew more than 300 job seekers and more than 40 employers, according to a chamber press release. Career fields represente­d include engineerin­g, health care and education.

ARTS GROUP SETS STYLE SHOW

The Montgomery County Performing Arts Society will raise money during its Mimosas in May in Texas event at 11:30 a.m. on May 29 at the Walden Yacht Club. Tickets start at $55. The annual event is a style show and luncheon, with proceeds benefiting the organizati­on that was formed in 1970 to maintain and encourage the local performing arts.

Its 2014-15 season, which concludes May 30 with American English paying tribute to The Beatles, also included country music performanc­es, a “show and a concerts and production­s for young musicians and actors.

‘OKLAHOMA!’ SHOW SET

The Players Theatre Co. presents “Oklahoma!” at 8 p.m. May 29-30. Tickets are $22 for adults. The production is the first musical written by the famous team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstei­n, and includes the hit songs “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “Surrey with the Fringe on Top” and “Out of My Dreams.” It’s a romance set in 1906.

CAT SHOW COMES TO CONROE

The local Stars and Stripes Cat Club presents its annual championsh­ip and household pet show at the Lone Star Expo Center starting at 9 a.m. on May 30. Admission is free but various entry fees apply for those interested in showing their cat, starting at $52 for the first entry.

The Cat Fanciers’ Associatio­n sanctioned six-ring show features awards in several categories, kitten sales, exhibitors and a concession stand.

BEATLES TRIBUTE CONCERT PLANNED

The Montgomery County Performing Arts Society presents “The Complete Beatles Tribute,” performed by American English at 7:30 p.m. on May 30 at the Crighton Theatre. Tickets are $43.

The award-winning tribute band play faithful renditions of music made famous by a Liverpool band that invaded America more than 50 years ago; and they dress the part, too. SIPS, SUDS AND TACOS ON MENU

Wine & Food Week presented by H-E-B is June 1-7, and one of the big events during the weeklong celebratio­n is Sips, Suds & Tacos at 6-9 p.m. on June 5 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the door.

The event is presented by Mexico Tourism and 15 local restaurant­s will compete to impress a panel of judges including couture cake designer Charlotte Neuville, Chef John Brazie from The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center, Delicious Mischief talk radio host John DeMers and local beer expert Ronnie Crocker. The public will also taste samples and will have a say in who wins the Taco Takedown Trophy.
