JOHN FRANCIS “JACK” MCCARTHY

1924-2015

John Francis “Jack” McCarthy, 90, peacefully passed on May 22, 2015 in Spring, Texas. He was born on October 20, 1924 and raised in Indianapol­is, Indiana to Irish immigrants John J. McCarthy and Nellie T. Brennan McCarthy. After graduating from Cathedral High School, Jack was drafted in the Army Air Corp during World War II, serving in North Africa, Italy and France to the conclusion of the war. Upon his return home he enrolled at the University Of Notre Dame du Lac and married Kathryn Joan Kenney.

Upon earning his B.S. in Commerce from Notre Dame, he began his 36 year career with Shell Oil Company. He spent a good portion of his career as Shell’s U.S. Corporate Auditing Manager, until his retirement in 1985. Several years following the death of his wife Joan in 1976, Jack married Jimmie Dale in 1982 and they continued their life in Houston.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ellen Bugher. He is survived by his wife Jimmie McCarthy and his children Kathy Davis, John McCarthy, M.D. and wife Kathryn, Kevin McCarthy, Dale Nadeau and Denise Nadeau; grandchild­ren, Jessica and husband Walton Daughtery, Sean and wife Katie McCarthy, David and wife Meghan McCarthy, and Kevin McCarthy; greatgrand­children, Quinn, Riley and Emerson McCarthy.

Jack will be remembered and missed for his unconditio­nal love, wisdom, generosity, sense of humor, forgiving nature and dedication to God, Country, family, Prince of Peace and Notre Dame. Go Irish!

The family wishes to thank the caregivers of The Village at Gleannloch Farm, as well as his caregiver Teresa Martinez.

A celebratio­n of Jack’s life will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Community in Houston on Monday, June 1, 2015 with visitation from 9:30AM to 10:30AM, followed by Mass at 10:30AM. Burial will follow Mass at Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Prince of Peace Building Fund or The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
