Texas City-La Marque Chamber features culinary masters in ‘Taste of the Town’

For some good food and fun plan to attend the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce’s “Taste of the Town” & Auction at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Doyle Convention Center, 2010 5th Ave. N.

Cuisine will be prepared by local culinary masters and the event will feature live and silent auctions, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The good eats include appetizers, entrees, side dishes, desserts, pastries and beverages from many of the area’s finest restaurant­s, caterers, bakeries and beverage companies.

Taste of the Town is Texas City’s annual community event that showcases area restaurant­s and caterers. Visitors can stroll through food and beverage booths to sample some of the best cuisine in town.

Set sail for the inaugural “Celebratio­n Seabrook” from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Nov. 14 along the city’s newly dubbed Main Street (formerly Second Street).

The one-day event celebrates coastal living and a love for the bay with music, wine, craft beer, gourmet food trucks and more. There will also be two live music stages, seafood cooking demonstrat­ions by Gulf Coast culinary masters, and fine wines and craft beers.

Seabrook has a reputation as a historic town on the water. Since 1832 residents and visitors alike have been drawn to its relaxed lifestyle, waterfront property, Gulf Coast seafood and friendly business climate.

“We’ve long known what a treasure our community is and offers,” Mayor Glenn Royal said in a press release. “We want to share that with the entire Houston area in a way that all can enjoy. We are all looking forward to Celebratio­n Seabrook this fall and for many years to come.”

Visitors to Celebratio­n Seabrook will find a host of interactiv­e experience­s for all ages including: a Kids’ Fish and Family Fun Experience Zone; a Craft Beer Garden and gourmet food trucks.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youths ages 11 to 20, and free for children under age 10. For more informatio­n, visit www. celebratio­nseabrook.com.
