Institute will offer network technology

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Cyber Security Institute will offer “Introducti­on to Network Technology” Oct. 2–24, Fridays, 1–6 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m.–1 p.m., in the university’s Delta Building, room 158A, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.

This course will cover network technologi­es, installati­on and configurat­ion, media and topologies, management and security, and will prepare students for the Cisco’s Certified Network Technician or CompTIA’s Network+ certificat­ion.

Fair connects volunteers to cause

Find the perfect service/ volunteer opportunit­y at the Community Service Fair Sept. 9, noon–4 p.m., in University of HoustonCle­ar Lake’s Bayou Building, Atrium II, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.

Representa­tives from organizati­ons that support societal issues such as animal rights, education, homelessne­ss, mental health and other issues will talk about volunteer opportunit­ies.

Although this fair is a resource for students, members of the community are also welcome to come learn about volunteer opportunit­ies.

The event is hosted by UHCL’s Student Leadership, Involvemen­t and Community Engagement program.

Fall open house set in October

Find out more about University of HoustonCle­ar Lake at the fall Open House Oct. 3, 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m., in the university’s Student Services and Classroom Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.

Prospectiv­e transfer and graduate students will meet with faculty members, enrollment management counselors, financial aid representa­tives and admissions counselors.

Participan­ts will also have the chance to sit down with an admissions counselor for an on-the-spot admissions decision.

Students hoping to participat­e in on-the-spot admission should bring all necessary admissions documents.
