Kenneth Allen Faour

1933-2015

Kenneth A. Faour, 81 of Houston, TX, passed away September 7, 2015. He was born in Houston, Texas on November 27, 1933. Kenneth graduated from the University of Houston and received a BBA from the College of Business in 1956. He was married to Shirlie M. Faour on February 15, 1959.

Ken was a leader and pioneer of the fresh fruit and vegetable industry as President of Magnolia Fruit and Produce Company. He also served in many local and national organizations including, Board Member of the Houston Restaurant Association (GHRA), President of Houston Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association (HFFVA), National Director of United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association, Board Member of Houston CVB and prominent Guest Lecturer at University of Houston Conrad Hilton School.

Kenneth had a passion for his family, antique cars, reading, ranching and educating the public on fresh fruits and vegetables on his weekly Get Fresh segment of KTRK ABC 13’s ‘Good Morning Houston.’

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirlie M. Faour, children Kenneth Jack Faour, Anthony Kent Faour, Vickie Marie Morris and Elizabeth Marie Moser, brother Gary Karem Faour, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Thursday September 10, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm and then funeral service at 7:00pm at St Anthony The Great Orthodox Christian Church 7202 FM 2920 Road, Spring TX, 77379.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ken Faour Scholarship at the Conrad North Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Checks should be payable to the University of Houston with a note directing it to the Faour Scholarship.
