QUARTERBACK

A

Brian Hoyer picked up where he left off against Indianapolis and played an outstanding game. He was 24-of-36 passing for 293 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions and one sack.

RUNNING BACKS

B-

Arian Foster played his best game with 53 yards rushing and 59 receiving, including a touchdown reception. He averaged only 2.9 yards a carry against a defense ready for him.

RECEIVERS/TIGHT ENDS

A+

DeAndre Hopkins is playing as if he is determined to show he is the NFL’s best receiver. He had 10 catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

OFFENSIVE LINE

B

Coach Mike Devlin shuffled his starters again, making changes at three positions. The pass protection was excellent. The run-blocking was sound for part of the game.

DEFENSIVE LINE

B

J.J. Watt got off his sickbed and had six quarterback hurries. He chased Blake Bortles all over the field. Watt, Vince Wilfork and Jared Crick played the run well.

LINEBACKERS

B+

With the injured Jadeveon Clowney sidelined, Whitney Mercilus got his first two sacks. John Simon had one. Brian Cushing led the team with 12 tackles.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

B

Safety Andre Hal had an interception at the goal line and a pick-six. A.J. Bouye secured the victory with his interception. Kareem Jackson left early with an ankle injury.

SPECIAL TEAMS

B-

The Jaguars’ average drive start on kickoffs was their 23-yard line — a testimonial to Nick Novak’s booming kickoffs and the coverage. Keith Mumphery averaged 12.5 yards on two punt returns.

COACHING

B

Bill O’Brien went back to Brian Hoyer, and the quarterback made his head coach look smart. Coaches on both sides of the ball and on special teams did a terrific job.
