Robert Ralph Logan was born March 16,1930 on a small cotton farm near Farmersville, Texas and joined our Lord November 7, 2015. He was the sixteenth child to Newt Logan and the eighth child to Louie Roberts Logan.

He attended the traditional one room (two rooms by closing a folding partition) school before it consolidated with the Farmersville Public School System where he was President of his 1947 graduating high school class. He was the place kicker and right end on the football team.

He was self-supported, sometimes working two jobs, through most of his college years despite dealing with a life threating illness that ravaged his body, until the end of his junior year when modern science developed a cure. Notwithstanding, he completed one years’ study in the school of engineering, two years in business administration and he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from New Mexico A& M, now New Mexico State University. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate, Cadet Lt. Colonel and commander of the Corps Army Battalion his senior year. Following graduation, he completed advanced officer training at Ft Benning, Georgia, and then served on the Regimental staff as a trainee instructor at Ft. Riley, Kansas before assignment to the 40th Infantry Division in Korea as a Rifle Platoon Leader. His loving wife, Shirley and newborn baby son Michael stayed with her parents during this trying period.

On February 22, 2008, he was recognized as a Distinguished Army ROTC Alumnus of New Mexico State University, and inducted into the Army ROTC Alumni Honor Company, the highest award given to a graduate.

Following service he spent one year with General Mills as a Junior Executive Trainee, followed by a year in sales. He then spent 12 years as a field man and district sales manager with CIT Corporation, Industrial Finance. He then joined Chemical Bank in Houston as a Vice President in charge of lending. Dan Mahoney was President and W. E. Dyche, Jr. was Chairman of the Board. One year later Bob was promoted to Executive Vice President and Advisory Director, and fifteen months thereafter was made President of the first of three Houston Banks he helped organized under the auspices of W. E. Dyche, Jr. and Governor Allan Shivers. He served as founding President & CEO of Peoples National Bank of Spring Branch, Interim Chairman of the Board of Heritage National Bank of Spring Branch, and Chairman, President & CEO of Park National Bank of Houston. He also served as a consultant to Allied Bank of Texas and Vice Chairman of Allied Memorial Bank. He retired at ages 48 and 55 and devoted his remaining years to his dear family and managing the family interest.

He was active in church, civic and community affairs and served as President of the Spring Branch-Memorial Chamber of Commerce. He is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in Finance and Industry in 1977/1978. He was a member of the Memorial church of Christ since 1966.

Bob was an entrepreneur, part time rancher, author, patriot, caring Christian husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was trustworthy, decent, and compassionate by nature but tough minded when necessary. Early hardships and a common background, built a strong desire to excel, helped shape an uncommon man of high honor and integrity whose accomplishments were extraordinary. Nonetheless, he would tell you that his greatest credits were his wonderful marriage to Shirley and having the respect and love of the families of their three sons, each of whose accomplishments exceeded his.

He is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 64 years; son Michael & wife Susan, their son Jason and wife Laura, son Josh and wife Anne Marie, and their children Anna Leigh and Alex, all of Houston; Son, Dr. Scott Logan, wife Janet, of Huntsville, Texas, and their children Kinsey and husband Jon Dulaney, and son Kirby; Son Steven & wife Mary of Houston, and their children Garrett and Clare.

He is also survived by his brother Ed Logan of Caddo Mills, Texas; sisters-in-law Edwina Logan of Terrell, Texas and Darlene Blagowshy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
