Boys Terio Brown Humble
Notable: The junior had five carries for 308 yards and touchdown runs of 85, 68, 53 and 96 yards as Humble defeated Galena Park 55-13.
What Wildcats football coach Charles West said: “He just dug down deep. I don’t know where it came from, but it was something I’ve never seen before.”
Other nominees
Shane Gosson, Ridge Point: Completed 18 of 29 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Panthers to a second district title.
Braylon Jefferson, Eisenhower: The senior defensive end had five tackles, five quarterback hurries/knockdowns and two sacks in the 49-0 win over Aldine.
Jirmail Proctor, North Forest: Had 15 carries for 150 yards and four TDs in a 31-14 win over Sharpstown that wrapped up the 20-5A title.
Girls Kate Copeland St. John’s
Notable: The junior forward scored three goals in the SPC Field Hockey championships last weekend. Two goals were off penalty corners as the school won its fourth title.
What Mavericks field hockey coach Craig Chambers said: “She scored a goal in each of the games. But more dramatically, she scored the winning goal, the only goal in the semi game and final game after time had expired in each.”

Corin Evans, Cinco Ranch: Had 11 kills and eight digs in a bi-district sweep of Carnegie Vanguard and 12 kills with 19 digs in a win over Cy-Fair.
Julia Heymach, Lamar: Won individual Class 6A gold at the UIL State Cross Country Championships with a time of 18 minutes, 19.6 seconds.
Caroline Shecterle, Pearland: Had 28 assists against Channelview in the bi-district round and 32 assists in the area round against Clear Falls.
