SUE GRIFFIN HIGHFIELD

Sue Highfield left to be with our Lord, Sunday, January 10th, 2016. Sue was a long time Director of Adult Ministries at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Houston. Sue was a graduate of Virginia Commonweal­th University and Perkins Seminary of Christian Education at Southern Methodist University.

As a follower of Christ and staff member at JWUMC, Sue was a guiding light and well-loved leader. She led several trips to the Holy Land and mission trips to Belize in service of her church. Sue was also an active member and winner of the Dick Murray Award with the Christian Educators Fellowship.

After graduation from VCU, Sue traveled the world as a flight attendant with Pan American Airways, being based in London, New York, San Francisco and Honolulu. While flying, she met her husband Kevin, with whom she moved to Florida and later Houston, where they raised their daughters Katie and Annie.

She is survived by husband Kevin, daughters Katie and Annie, parents Ray and Peggy Griffin of Indiana, sister Mary and niece Maggie of Illinois.

Sue touched so many lives through her work and her life. She fought her battle with cancer bravely and in great spirit and refused to let anything stand in the way of her faith, family or life.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan 13, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379. Memorial service will be at 10 am, Thursday January 14th, 2016 at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 5830 Bermuda Dunes, Houston, TX 77069. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to John Wesley United Methodist Church in memory of Sue Highfield—all donations will go to Bread of Life Homeless Services.
