Dual bistro offers different meals

- By Allen Jones

Black and White, a locally owned Mediterranean and seafood bistro, opened in September at 1001 Studewood St. on the corner of East 10th Street in the Heights.

The establishment offers customers a dual concept under one roof with two distinctive atmospheres and culinary experiences: upscale, European-Mediterranean inspired cuisine on the Black side, and a casual, international seafood grill on the White side. Guests can order from both menus, regardless of which side they decide to sit.

“Each menu includes elegant yet rustic, heartfelt dishes using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients,” said Hernán García, a partner with Black and White, in a news release. “We seamlessly combine classic homemade flavors with new, contemporary cuisine to offer authentic dishes with a twist.”

The 4,750-square-foot restaurant features reclaimed wood and period lighting. The restaurant includes three bar areas, a terrace and a secluded Cava room for small private dinners. Black and White serves cocktails, local craft bottled beer and wine by the glass or bottle.

“Our goal is to offer the ultimate dining experience with an upbeat, casual setting on one side contrasted by a more intimate, upscale atmosphere on the other, and with the option to order from two different style of menus,” said Paul Celis, the restaurant’s chief operating officer. “Whether opting for a place to entertain business clients, an intimate dinner for a special occasion, or spending quality time with your friends and family, Black and White can accommodate you.”

Hours of operation are 5-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Complimentary valet and Wi-Fi are available. For more information, visit www.blackandwhitehou.com.
