Gay Ann Jones Johnson passed away January 9th in Houston at Methodist Hospital. She was born January 5, 1943 in McNary, AZ to Charles and Mary Lee Halliday Jones. The family moved to Westlake, Louisiana, in 1947 where she grew up and attended Westlake High School, graduating in 1961 as Valedictor­ian of her class. Gay graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana in 1966 with a degree in mathematic­s and then worked as a computer programmer for NASA at Michoud in New Orleans where she supported the design and constructi­on of Saturn V moon rocket first stage. And later at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, and Johnson Space Center in Houston. She then worked as a programmer for the City of Houston Police Department.

She and her husband, Greg, traveled widely and enjoyed life. She was a square dancer, played bridge and was a power walker. She is survived by her husband, Gregory L. Johnson and beloved little dog, Angel; step children and families, Darcy Johnson (David Miller) of Austin Texas, Cris Johnson (Arlene Jograj) of New York city; grandchild­ren, Jed Johnson Miller and Madeleine and Carolina Jograj Johnson; twin sister, Faye Jones Crowell (Larry) of Sulphur, Louisiana; nieces, Cindy Ewing and Teresa Anderson; great nieces, Melody Ewing Waters and Lacy Ewing; great nephews, John Fontenot and Aron Ewing and five great, great nieces and a great, great nephew all of the Lake Charles, Louisiana, area. The memorial service will be held in the Lake Charles area on February 6.

She will be cremated and a memorial celebratio­n of her life will be held at a later date to be announced.
