CAROL ANN STEPCZYK THORPE

Carol Thorpe passed into God’s hands on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Carol was born on September 27, 1936 in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland to father, Col. Frank Stepczyk, and mother, Mary Adelaide Kneeland Stepczyk. As the child of a career military officer, Carol grew up all over the world living in, among other places, El Paso, TX, Bethesda, MD, Bremerhoff­en, Germany, San Antonio, TX, Tulsa, OK and Atlanta, GA. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Atlanta, Georgia at age 16.

Carol attended the University of Texas – Austin as a music major where she met Alfred Jeffrey Thorpe while he was in graduate school. Carol and Al were married October 6, 1956 in San Antonio, TX and settled in Houston, Texas to raise a family. Carol and Al were married for over fifty five years before Al passed in 2012. During the marriage they operated a public accounting firm, Thorpe and Thorpe, P.C., which continues to operate under the direction of their son, Gary Thorpe. Carol and Al had three children: Anne Thorpe Good, Gary Michael Thorpe and Jeffrey Brian Thorpe.

When her kids went off to college, Carol completed her undergradu­ate degree in accounting at the University of Houston and became a licensed real estate broker in Texas.

Carol was predecease­d by her husband, Al, her brother, Bob Stepczyk, and her son, Jeffrey. Carol is survived by daughter Anne Good (husband, Scott), son Gary Thorpe (wife, Amy), brother Frank Stepczyk (wife, Mona), grandchild­ren; Randy McDonald, Ross McDonald (wife, Casey), Jimmy Thorpe and Allison Thorpe and several cousins, nieces, nephews and sister-inlaw, Hattie Stepczyk.

The pallbearer­s will be Carol’s four grandchild­ren & Amy Thorpe and Scott Good.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Rd., Houston, Texas. A Celebratio­n of Life service will be conducted by Pastor Rick Minett at Grace Community Church, 1021 Campbell Rd., Houston, Texas on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:00 am. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, you consider donations to honor Carol (and Jeffrey) to the National Associatio­n of Mental Illness or the charity of your choice.
