Our beautiful mother, Meredith Maree Lawler Hawley, has joined her husband of 64 years, Richard Moore Hawley, in the Kingdom of Heaven. Meredith was born on May 31, 1930, in Dallas, TX., to Joe Bradford Lawler Jr., and Reva Marvin. Meredith grew up in Dallas, living with her loving Grandparen­ts Albert and Flora Meredith. She attended Ben Milam Elementary School and North Dallas High School where she excelled academical­ly and made many friends. She had many fond memories of her childhood growing up in Dallas. Meredith met Richard Moore Hawley when they were 6 years old, and on May 19,1951, they were married at The Episcopal Church of the Incarnatio­n in Dallas, TX. As a child, Meredith was active in the Baptist church but as an adult became a devoted Episcopali­an becoming very active in the women’s ministry, Sunday school, and other groups. Meredith moved with her family to Kansas City, then to St. Louis and finally home to Texas, residing in Houston for the last 36 years. During her time in Kansas City, Meredith was active at St Michael and All Angels Church, and Boy Scouts of America. In St. Louis, Meredith was active at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, and was a Girl Scout Leader. Meredith was an active member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood, TX. Meredith worked many years as an Executive Secretary in Dallas, Kansas City, St Louis and Houston. She retired from Ashbrook-Simon-Hartley Inc. in 1989 and began working with Richard in his business, Hawley and Associates. Meredith enjoyed volunteeri­ng at the Kingwood Library, Humble Area Assistance Ministries, Good Shepherd Church, and Holy Trinity Episcopal School. Meredith was a loving Mother and Grandmothe­r. She enjoyed watching old classic movies, reading mystery novels, spending time with her grandkids, and traveling with Richard, her sister Barbara, and brother in law Bill Gilbert.

Meredith is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Moore Hawley; beloved son, Stuart Scott Hawley; father, Joe B. Lawler; mother, Reva Marvin; grandparen­ts, Albert Burton Meredith and Flora Elizabeth Meredith, niece, Kimberly Maree Gilbert, and nephew, Bill Cody Gilbert, III. Meredith is survived by her children. Richard Kent Hawley and wife Laura of Kingwood, TX.; Jeffery Blake Hawley of Tyler, TX.; Suzanne Elizabeth Hedgepath and husband Tom of McKinney, TX.; Deanne Kathleen Holmes of Humble, TX.; Grandchild­ren Jessalyn Marie Ball, Joshua Stewart Hawley, Richard Matthew Hawley, Thomas Allen Hedgepath, III, Curtis Whitman Hedgepath, Kevin Scott Holmes, and Kathleen Rose Holmes; great grandchild­ren Mason, Hayden, Peyton, Keaton and Magdalyn Ball. Kaleb and Josephine Hawley; sister Barbara and husband Bill Gilbert of Dallas, TX.; two nieces Kelly Hughes and husband Jim of Dallas, TX.; and Candy Hanks of Roberts Cove, La.; Brother in law David Hawley and wife Dona of Dallas, TX.; as well as many other nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral service for Meredith will be at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX in the Abbey Chapel on January 25, 2016 at 9:30 AM with a memorial service to be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood, TX at a later time. We ask that in place of flowers that a donation in her name be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal School. Humble Area Assistance Ministries.
