Joseph Paul Schwander III, 86, of Huntsville, TX passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Paul was born July 19, 1929 in Houston, TX to Joseph Paul Jr. and Vera Maude Key Schwander. Paul grew up in Webster, TX and graduated from Webster High School in 1947. He attended Sam Houston State Teacher’s College where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultur­e Education in 1951.

Paul married Billie Jean Cox on November 25, 1955 at 1st Methodist Church in Pasadena, TX. They had one son, Joseph Paul Schwander IV. Paul was in sales for most of his working career. After 27 years with Hoffman LaRoche, he retired as National Sales Trainer for the Animal Health and Nutrition division.

Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Schwander; son Paul Schwander; granddaugh­ter Jaclynn Schwander; sister, Joann Pierce; sister-inlaw & husband Joan & James Baker; brother-in-law Roy Kenneth Cox; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his parents.

Paul was active in various profession­al organizati­ons. He served the board and as President of the Texas Allied Turkey Associatio­n and board and past President of the Texas Poultry Federation. Paul was an active member of the Huntsville Lion’s Club, Bearkat partners and a life member of the Sam Houston State University Alumni Associatio­n. Paul and Jean attended First Methodist Church in Huntsville, TX where he had been very active in his Sunday school class. In life, Paul felt like love and loyalty was the key. Paul was a wonderful husband, father, grandfathe­r and friend.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 26th 6:008:00 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville, TX. Services for Paul will be held Wednesday, January 27th, 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Huntsville, TX. Interment will be Thursday, January 28th 2:00 pm at Forest Park Cemetery, Webster, TX.
