Morton, Muldrow lead West Virginia to win over TCU

FORT WORTH — Jessica Morton scored a career-high 26 points, and Teana Muldrow had a double-double to lead No. 25 West Virginia to a 97-84 victory over TCU on Sunday.

Muldrow had 21 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Bria Holmes scored 22 points to move into third on the Mountainee­rs’ career list with 1,756.

West Virginia (16-4, 5-2 Big 12) closed the half with an 11-0 surge for a 50-23 lead.

AJ Alix scored a careerhigh 26 points, and Zahna Medley added 16 for TCU (11-8, 3-5).

Tiffany Mitchell scored 21 points, including nine in a tight fourth quarter, as the No. 2 Gamecocks beat the 10th-ranked Bulldogs at Starkville, Miss.

South Carolina (19-0, 7-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) led for almost the entire second half but struggled to fight off Mississipp­i State in the final minutes.

Victoria Vivians led the Bulldogs (17-4, 4-3) with 19 points.

Brianna Turner scored 18 points as the thirdranke­d Irish shook off a slow start to beat the Hokies at South Bend, Ind.

Arike Ogunbowale added 15 points for Notre Dame (19-1, 7-0 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Kelsey Mitchell scored 22 points, and the No. 7 Buckeyes used a big third quarter to take command and beat the Scarlet Knights at Piscataway, N.J.

Ameryst Alston scored 10 of her 15 points in the decisive quarter as Ohio State (15-4, 7-1 Big Ten) outscored Rutgers 24-7 to break away from a halftime tie.

Leticia Romero had a career-high 19 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals as the No. 14 Seminoles pulled away late for a victory over the 16th-ranked Hurricanes at Miami.

Shakayla Thomas added 15 points, and Ivey Slaughter and Adut Bulgak each had 10 points for Florida State (16-4, 6-1 ACC).

Adrienne Motley had 20 points and Keyona Hayes added 18 for Miami (17-3, 5-2).

Freshman Kitija Laksa made seven 3-pointers and scored 29 points, and Courtney Williams added 20 points as the No. 15 Bulls won at Orlando, Fla.

Morgan Stock came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers and score 18 points, leading the No. 23 Tigers past the 22ndranked Gators in Columbia, Mo.

Sophie Cunningham and Juanita Robinson each scored 12 points for Missouri (16-4, 3-4 SEC), which shot 53 percent (26of-49) with eight 3-pointers to offset 30 turnovers.
