Young women and their mothers honored at ceremony in January
Kings Trails Chapter, Class of 2016 was honored at its NCL Inc., Senior Recognition ceremony held at the Houston Airport Marriott Hotel in January. Twenty-one seniors from Kingwood and Kingwood Park high schools and their mothers were recognized for volunteering more than 2,500 hours.
Kings Trails Chapter, Class of 2016 was honored at their NCL, Inc., Senior Recognition ceremony held at the Houston Airport Marriott Hotel on Jan. 17. Twenty-one seniors from Kingwood and Kingwood Park high schools and their mothers were recognized for volunteering more than 2,500 hours to local philanthropies during their six-year NCL experience.
For their Senior Project, the Class of 2016 held a Community Baby Shower for the Society of St. Stephen’s Layette Ministry. The NCL, Inc. class spent 500 hours collecting and organizing newborn baby care items, which were donated by the community. The items, valued at more than $13,000, are being distributed at no cost to new mothers at Ben Taub Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Society of St. Stephen Director, Lynn Harper, was selected by the class to be the emcee at the NCL, Inc. Senior Recognition.
“It was a joy and an honor to participate (as emcee) and personally thank the seniors and their mothers for their hard work with the Layette Ministry/ Community Baby Shower project,” Harper said.
NCL, Inc. is a national, non-profit organization with mother and daughter members in chapters across the United States. NCL, Inc. is dedicated to improving local communities through volunteerism, strengthening mother-daughter bonds and empowering strong female leaders.
NCL, Inc., Kings Trails, Chapter based in Kingwood was founded in 2004. The current philanthropies served by the chapter are: Addi’s Faith Foundation, Be An Angel, Family Time Foundation, Friends of the Atascocita Library, Houston Zoo, Humble Area Assistance Ministries, Humble ISD Education Foundation, Kingwood Dance Theater, Society of St. Stephen, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Village Learning Center, the Lake Houston Area YMCA, Family Promise, Jesse H. Jones Nature Center & Park, Ronald McDonald House and Special Olympics.
