Missy Herndon will take over for longtime leader Ann Snyder at Interfaith of The Woodlands.

Interfaith of TheWoodlands has named Missy Herndon to replace longtime leader Ann Snyder, who is preparing to step down from her leadership role with the local nonprofit organization.

Snyder, who announced her impending departure in January after being elected in the fall to The Woodlands Township board, said she would leave Interfaith of TheWoodlands and Interfaith Community Clinic after 12 years to focus her energy on other endeavors in the community, adding she was ready to pass the torch to another leader to take Interfaith “to the next level.”

Herndon will step up into the chief executive officer position. She has been the director of programs and services for Interfaith for the past three years, coordinating the nonprofit’s many community programs, including the food pantry, which feeds more than a thousand people a month; Veggie Village, the community garden that provides fresh produce for the pantry; Senior Rides, which gives nearly 3,000 rides a year; and programs for financial assistance, counseling, job training and child care for those in need in the community.

Herndon and her family hold a place in the hearts of The Woodlands community, not only for her work with Interfaith, but also for the sake of her son, Will, who has Juve- nile Batten Disease, a fatal, degenerative disorder with no known cure.

After Will was diagnosed at age 5 in 2009, The Woodlands community rallied around the Herndons. The family started the Will Herndon Fund for Juvenile Batten Research, which in the past several years has raised more than $3 million through golf tournaments, fun runs and other community-rooted fundraising.

Herndon also has immersed herself in The Woodlands community in a number of capacities, including past president of the Junior League of The Woodlands, board member of the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, executive leadership for The Woodlands Area Cham- ber of Commerce and advisory council for Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands.

She also was awarded the honor of Hometown Hero in 2012.

“With our new CEO, Missy Herndon, we will continue our mission to build a more loving and caring community through service as she brings her great energy and ideas that will help us grow with our community,” said Ray Sanders, Interfaith of The Woodlands board chair, in a statement.

Herndon will assume her new role as president and chief executive officer of Interfaith onApril 1.
