Spark named retail provider of the year

Houston-based retail energy service provider Spark Energy Inc. was honored for expanding 40 percent as well as firming up its balance sheet during the Energy Marketing Conference March 3.

The company, located at 12140 Wickcheste­r Lane, Suite 100, received the 2015 Retail Energy Provider of the Year Award.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said Nathan Kroeker, Spark Energy’s president and CEO, in a news release. “The award validates the hard work and effort everyone in our organizati­on has put into growing our company and becoming a key player in the industry.”

The Energy Marketing Conference brings together hundreds of energy companies, utilities, marketers, vendors and suppliers in the competitiv­e industry to network and learn more about the industry. Conference­s are held twice a year.

Those nominated for the Retail Energy Provider of the Year Award experience­d gains in their businesses, said Larry Leikin, CEO of TrustedTPV and co-founder of the conference, in a news release.

“Spark Energy was the clear winner,” said Jack Doueck, co-founder of the conference and principal of Advanced Energy Capital, in a news release. “In 2015, Spark Energy strengthen­ed its balance sheet, grew its footprint by over 40 percent and put together a diversifie­d portfolio of brands. This growth benefits their customer base and allows for continued expansion in the market with competitiv­e rates and innovative product options.”

Spark Energy, founded in 1999, offers residentia­l and commercial customers services across the United States. The company operates in 16 states and serves 46 utility territorie­s.
