Server Monkey donates to tourney

- By Allen Jones

A Spring Branch-area information technology company was the official equipment sponsor for Gamers for Giving, a competitive gaming tournament held as a fundraiser in Ann Arbor, Michigan, March 12 and 13.

The tournament raised funds for Gamers Outreach Foundation, which builds portable video game kiosks called “GO Karts” for hospitals nationwide for recreational use by children undergoing long-term treatments.

ServerMonkey, located at 2130 W. Sam Houston Parkway, partnered with the foundation to host the tournament inside Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center. Before the match, Layla Wright, ServerMonkey’s CEO, said she was excited to help out Gamers Outreach, which set a fundraising goal to raise $100,000. The total raised during the tournament was not available before press time.

ServerMonkey provides new and preowned information technology hardware including servers, networking equipment, workstations, laptops and desktops to small and big business. ServerMonkey also offers data center services, which include information technology asset decommission and disposition, asset recovery and spare parts harvesting, among other programs.
