Farmer’s Market in Klein

- By Brandon Moeller

On the last Saturday of every month through May, the Klein Historical Foundation opens the doors of Wunderlich Farm to the public, for a farmer’s market featuring a diverse group of local vendors from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the on-site Klein Museum stays open until 3 p.m. Upcoming dates include March 26, April 30 and May 28.

Participating regular vendors at the farmer’s market include local farms such as Wunderlich Family Farm, farming in the area since 1852; Edmonds Farm, another Klein-based farm that offers fresh produce, eggs and meat; PEAS Farm, from Conroe, that offers produce, eggs and honey; and Stoneham Farm, that offers elephant garlic, Texas Olive oil, spices and honey.

Other vendors specialize in salsa, roasted coffee, goat milk and lotions, pet treats, shaved ice, orchids, vegan foods, tamales, snack mixes, family recipes, Gulf Coast shrimp, jams and jellies, infused oils, baked goods, sugar cubes, soaps, furniture and gourmet popcorn.

The Klein, TX Museum is also open during the monthly event, and it displays early community artifacts including household items, Civil War relics and a collection of radios. Hundreds of photos, farming equipment and the original keys to the first Klein High School are also on display.

The historical foundation is a non-profit Texas corporation that is focused on preserving buildings, sites, documents, photos and records of the Klein, Texas community. The foundation depends on donations and contributions. Donations of artifacts, documents and photos are welcomed.

Wunderlich Farm is located at 18218 Theiss Mail Rt. Road in Klein. Learn more at www.kleinhistorical.org or call 832-2495800.
