Orioles rally past Rangers

ARLINGTON — Mark Trumbo hit two of Baltimore’s four home runs in a nine-run seventh inning, and the Orioles beat the Texas Rangers 11-5 on Friday night.

The Orioles were still down 5-3 after Trumbo’s two-run homer chased Martin Perez with no outs in the seventh. They went ahead to stay when Jonathan Schoop and Nolan Reimold hit back-to-back homers off Tom Wilhelmsen, and Trumbo added a three-run shot off a second reliever later in the inning.

MARINERS 7, YANKEES 1: Robinson Cano got two more hits to celebrate his special connection to Jackie Robinson Day as Seattle sent host New York to its third straight loss. Cano’s father, a former major league pitcher, named his son for the Brooklyn Dodgers great. Cano improved to 14-for-38 (.368) on the day all major leaguers honor the late Hall of Famer by wearing his No. 42.

TWINS 5, ANGELS 4: Minnesota got its first win of the season and stopped a nine-game losing streak, after Byung Ho Park drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the eighth inning against visiting Los Angeles.

RED SOX 5, BLUE JAYS 3: Rick Porcello pitched 61⁄3 solid innings, and Travis Shaw hit a two-run double to lead Boston to a victory over Toronto at Fenway Park.

ROCKIES 6, CUBS 1: Chad Bettis pitched six scoreless innings, and Colorado took advantage of Chicago’s shaky defense for a victory at Wrigley Field.

BRAVES 6, MARLINS 3: Adonis Garcia drove in three runs in the final three innings, and Atlanta rallied past host Miami for its first win of the year after nine straight losses.

WHITE SOX 1, RAYS 0: Chris Sale tossed a two-hitter, Melky Cabrera singled in Jimmy Rollins in the ninth inning, and Chicago won at Tampa Bay.

NATIONALS 9, PHILLIES 1: Bryce Harper had three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs, and Joe Ross tossed 72⁄3 shutout innings to help Washington win at Philadelph­ia.

METS 6, INDIANS 5: Yoenis Cespedes and Neil Walker each hit a two-run homer in a five-run fifth inning, and New York held on for a win at Cleveland.

CARDINALS 14, REDS 3: Matt Holliday had two of St. Louis’ six home runs in a rout of visiting Cincinnati.

BREWERS 8, PIRATES 4: Ryan Braun hit two long tworun home runs, and Milwaukee won at Pittsburgh.
