Nats take down Twins in 16th

WASHINGTON — Bryce Harper tied it with a pinchhit home run in the ninth inning, pitcher Oliver Perez put down a bunt in the 15th that kept the game going, and Chris Heisey homered in the 16th to give the Washington Nationals a wild 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins.

The Nationals were down 5-4 in the 15th when Danny Espinosa drew a two-out walk and stole second. With no one else left to hit, Perez batted for the first time since 2010 and bunted down the third base line. Catcher John Ryan Murphy picked up the ball but threw it wildly past first, allowing Espinosa to score.

Heisey then homered off Michael Tonkin to complete a three-game sweep.

CUBS 9, REDS 0: Anthony Rizzo drove in four runs with his 10th career two-homer game, Jason Hammel pitched six scoreless innings, and Chicago routed host Cincinnati.

INDIANS 6, TIGERS 3: Francisco Lindor got three hits, and Cleveland overcame an early injury to starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco to finish off a three-game sweep at Detroit.

A METS 3, BRAVES 2: Jacob deGrom returned to the mound after tending to his ill infant son and an injury, pitching New York past host Atlanta for a three-game sweep.

A BREWERS 8, PHILLIES 5: Scooter Gennett and Alex Presley homered in a six-run sixth inning, lifting Milwaukee to a victory over visiting Philadelph­ia.

BLUE JAYS 6, ATHLETICS 3: Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer, Ezequiel Carrera added a solo shot, and Toronto beat visiting Oakland.

A DODGERS 12, ROCKIES 10: Chase Utley drove in the goahead run with a double in Los Angeles’ five-run ninth, and the Dodgers rallied to win at Colorado.

RAYS 8, YANKEES 1: Steven Souza Jr. homered twice on his 27th birthday as Tampa Bay won at New York.

WHITE SOX 4, RANGERS 1: Mat Latos threw six solid innings for his fourth straight win as host Chicago beat Texas.

A ROYALS 6, ORIOLES 1: Eric Hosmer homered to continue his hot streak, and Kansas beat visiting Baltimore.

MARINERS 9, ANGELS 4: Lefthander Wade Miley overcame a shaky first inning to help Seattle win at Los Angeles.

MARLINS 5, GIANTS 4: J.T. Realmuto hit a tiebreakin­g home run in the eighth as Miami won at San Francisco.

PIRATES 12, DIAMONDBAC­KS 10: Sean Rodriguez’s goahead double in the 13th helped Pittsburgh win at Arizona.

CARDINALS 8, PADRES 5: Jedd Gyorko homered, tripled and singled as St. Louis rallied to win at San Diego.
