Agencies promote alcohol awareness
With prom and graduation around the corner, the Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol’s Brazoria County Community Coalition is partnering with Alvin Police Department to prevent underage drinking.
“This season is a good time to remind youth that when they are under 21, any consumption of alcohol is illegal,” coalition coordinator Dannielle Meyer said. “There isn’t a .08 blood alcohol level for minors. If you are in a limo and you have consumed alcohol, you can be charged with a Minor In Possession and face legal consequences as well as consequences assigned from the school. Those can include loss of end-of-the-year activities, participating in graduation ceremonies and even loss of college scholarships.”
