LHP Steven Matz was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 15, with shoulder tightness. The Mets say the rookie underwent an MRI exam on Monday that revealed no structural damage to his shoulder.

Matz was scratched from his Friday start. He had taken a no-hitter into the eighth against San Diego in his last start, when he was removed after 105 pitches.

Matz is 9-8 with a 3.40 ERA.
