POSTSEASON SCHEDULE
The MLB postseason will open with the American League wild-card game Oct. 4, followed by the National League wildcard game the next day.
In releasing its playoff schedule Tuesday, MLB also said the World Series will begin Oct. 25 at the home of the AL champion. A seventh and deciding game, if necessary, is scheduled for Nov. 2.
The AL Division Series will begin Oct. 6; the NL Division Series will start Oct. 7. The AL Championship Series is to begin Oct. 14; the NL Championship Series on Oct. 15.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES
First baseman Chris Davis has hit at least 30 home runs in four of the past five seasons. … Chris Tillman appears headed to the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.
BOSTON RED SOX
Righthander Rick Porcello (17-3, 3.22) can become the majors’ first 18-game winner when Boston plays at Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
COLORADO ROCKIES
Nolan Arenado hit a three-run home run, his 33rd, for Colorado. He went 3-for-5 and is 9-for13 with three home runs and nine RBIs in his past three games.
LOS ANGELES ANGELS
Rookie Nick Buss hit his first major league home run, a two-run drive in the second inning of the defeat to the Blue Jays, LOS ANGELES DODGERS
The club placed lefthanders Brett Anderson and Scott Kazmir on the disabled list, tying the 2012 Boston Red Sox for the major league record with 27 players on the DL this season.
MIAMI MARLINS
The team played its 15th consecutive game decided by three runs or less, a club record.
ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
Randal Grichuk’s solo homer in the sixth extended the team’s home run streak to 12 games.
SEATTLE MARINERS
Righthander Drew Storen was placed on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation.
