Tone deaf

The debate may have been a simple test for the undecided vote. Donald Trump is clueless or does not care how offensive many of the things he says are to others. He lacked a defense for his sexist comments and then added his Rosie O’Donnell comment, which should have worried undecided women.

He had no defense of his racist comments and then proudly proclaimed multiple times responsibility for our first African-American president producing his birth certificate, clueless of the “papers please” moment it may have evoked in many minorities.

The test will be whether Americans recognize something simple as empathy as one of the requirements for anyone who would be president of a country as diverse as ours. Ron Curtis, Houston
