Receiver Fuller among returnees

-

Rookie receiver Will Fuller practiced Wednesday and is primed to make his return Monday night from a hamstring injury.

Fuller was sidelined Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts and caught one pass for four yards the previous week against the Minnesota Vikings when he injured his leg. He was limited in practice last week.

“I felt good out there,” Fuller said after practice. “I was running routes. I’m ready to go.”

A first-round draft pick from Notre Dame, Fuller has provided an immediate deep threat with his 4.28 speed in the 40-yard dash and shifty moves after the catch. He’s caught 20 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns and also returned a punt for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans.

This marks his first Monday night game.

“Prime-time games, they’re always fun,” Fuller said. “The atmosphere should be great.”

The Texans are also getting healthier on the right side of their offensive line.

Days after both right tackle Derek Newton and right guard Jeff Allen were sidelined against the Colts, both practiced Wednesday. Newton has an ankle injury and Allen remains under the NFL concussion protocol.

Allen feels much better and is progressing toward playing Monday. Texans coach Bill O’Brien predicted both will play.

Veteran cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson also practiced and are expected to play, as is rookie tight end Stephen Anderson, who had a hamstring injury.

Joseph has dealt with a concussion and a forearm injury over the past two games. Jackson has missed two consecutive games with a hamstring injury.

Safety Quintin Demps (calf ), linebacker Brian Peters (quadriceps) and running back Jonathan Grimes (cracked fibula) didn’t practice.
