Boys
Dontay Warren, Alief Taylor
Notable: The senior quarterback was 11 of 16 passing for 387 yards and four TDs (87, 76, 76 and 39 yards) and ran for two scores in three quarters of action in a 63-32 win over Hastings that improved Taylor to 8-0.
What coach Brian Randle said: “Dontay’s been great. His senior leadership has been invaluable. The kid worked hard all summer long, he’s doing exactly what the coaches are asking him to do, and he’s making plays.”

Leonard Harris, Elkins: The senior running back carried 31 times for 269 yards and five TDs, including two in overtime, in a 48-41 doubleOT upset of Fort Bend Marshall.
Jordan Oliver, Kempner: The junior defensive back snagged three interceptions in a 49-21 win over Dulles that kept the Cougars in the District 20-6A playoff hunt.
Alex Williams, Pasadena Memorial: The junior running back rolled up 330 yards and five TDs on 30 carries in a 35-21 win over Pasadena, sending the resurgent Mavericks to 6-2, 4-0. Jason McDaniel

Jordan Pleasants, Friendswood
Notable: The senior libero had 18 digs in a sweep of Clear Lake and 27 digs in a four-set win over Clear Springs to help the Mustangs clinch a playoff berth.
What coach Sarah Paulk said: “Her competitive drive is second to none and she has done a great job of leading our team back to the playoffs.”
Other nominees
Megan Hopper, Cinco Ranch: The junior won the District 19-6A cross country meet by three seconds in a time of 17:55 in the 5,000-meter event.
Peyton McQuillan, Magnolia West: The freshman’s time of 18:31 was more than good enough for first place at the District 20-5A cross country meet.
